Quality of life

PEOPLE HAVE KNOWN FOR GENERATIONS ...
THAT THEY WERE WORKING IN ONE OF EUROPE'S LOVELIEST REGIONS
Golf, sailing or hiking? The choice is yours, your children's too. Other than alpine skiing, you can do everything in Finistère. Although the sea is the dominant theme, we are also fond of rivers, moors and forests. Outdoor sports lovers, all your wishes shall be fulfilled…
Old gaffer or Kevlar? We hesitated for a long time before choosing this photograph. We decided that, given the nature of our industries, you will have assumed that we could handle Kelvar, carbon and epoxy. So instead, in a gesture of friendship we offer you an "Old Gaffer". Our shipbuilding industries know how to build the most up-to-date civilian or naval vessels in the world. We've therefore selected one of the best known of "classic" boats as a symbol of our way of life and of work: the alchemy of tradition and innovation!
benchmarks

Cultural heritage : an enviable network of historic and art-based towns (designated as Villes d'Art et d'Histoire) and small characterful villages (known as Petites Cités de Caratère), walled parish enclosures that are unique in the world…

Not to be missed dates : Old Plows Festival (otherwise known as the Festival des Vieilles Charrues) of pop, rock and R&B in Carhaix, Old Gaffers Festivals in Brest and Douarnenez, the Festival of Cornouaille in Quimper featuring Breton and Celtic music.

Two nationally-recognised performance venues: the Quartz, Brest's International Convention Centre, and the Théâtre de Cornouaille in Quimper.

Living in Finistère.
Ancestral legacy and modern way of living. Finistère is Breton and Celtic: this cultural and historical combination can be enjoyed with great pleasure by festival goers, culture or art lovers, wanderers of the byways of our cultural heritage and admirers of Gauguin and the painters of the Pont-Aven School.

Endowed with a strong cultural identity and an extraordinary heritage, Finistère is always lively and offers a remarkable local environment in terms of way of life. Excellent schools, which put Finistère top of the list for educational success, extensive leisure activities, a safe and well-maintained environment, enhancing both your professional and personal development.

Summers are pleasant, between 20 and 25° C, winters are mild due to the ocean climate. Health care is efficient and accessible.

As the leading French maritime area, Finistère is highly valued and ranks among the leading French tourist destinations, offering visitors more than 400,000 accomodation possibilities.

Unique. Finistère is different… Which isn't surprising given that it's the extreme western point of France and the closest to America!
